Within the context of South Africa’s economy, franchising holds a enviable position, contributing almost 10% to the country’s GDP – exceeding that of most other sectors including mining (at 4%), the retail and wholesale sectors (at 3.6%), finance and real estate (at 3.3%), construction (2.5%), manufacturing (2.4%) and agriculture (2.3%). It is only fitting then that the country’s most dedicated franchise exhibition, the International Franchise Expo, which takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre from the 16 – 18th April 2015, is held under the auspices of the Franchise Association of South Africa (FASA) which has represented the interests of franchising for the past 35 years.
With franchising getting so much attention in the business arena, in Government circles, within Africa and internationally and with the Franchise Association of South Africa (FASA) driving that growth and awareness, IFE has proved, in the 20 years that it has been running the Franchise Show, that it is the meeting ground for everyone involved in the franchise industry – from support services, suppliers to the industry, financial institutions, the legal fraternity and funding organisations. With FASA running their annual Convention and Training and Information Courses during the same week as IFE as well as holding their prestigious awards during the same week, the Sandton Convention will become the central hub of anything to do with franchising, small business and entrepreneurship from the 15 – 18th April 2015.
Franchising is considered the cradle of innovative entrepreneurship and visitors to IFE 2015 can expect to see a full range of franchise business opportunities, with the emphasis on those exciting new concepts that will prove to be tomorrow’s leading brands. Not only does IFE attracts the most concentrated pool of quality visitors who are looking to invest in a franchise opportunity, it serves as the ideal platform to strengthen your franchise brand – to the public, your competitors, the media.
The South African annual International Franchise Expo, under the auspices of the Franchise Association of South Africa, is the largest of its kind on the African continent and, with franchising in South Africa spanning over 40 years, is the first port of call for any international franchisors wanting to enter the lucrative African marketplace.
Invitation to foreign delegations to IFE 2015 from the 16 – 18th April 2015
Franchising has the potential to be a successful propellant in supporting the continued economic growth in Africa, and South Africa, with its sophisticated economic and franchise infrastructure, is poised to be the springboard into the rest of Africa.
South Africa, with a well-established franchise sector dating back to the 1960’s and a Franchise Association overseeing the sector since 1979 and a respected member of the World Franchise Council, invites delegations, both public and private, to participate in the International Franchise Expo which takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa from the 16 – 18th April at the Sandton Convention Centre. With over 100 exhibitors and attracting close to 5 000 visitors from South Africa, the rest of Africa and abroad, IFE 2014 is the event that will give you a foothold into doing business in Africa.
Whilst South African franchise concepts dominate the market – thanks largely to the many years of sanctions where local entrepreneurs were forced to develop their own concepts – new concepts and brands from abroad are welcomed by local entrepreneurs. Many respected brands – from KFC, McDonald’s and Burger King to Cash Converters, PostNet, Pirtek, Express Employment Professionals, Minuteman Press,Re/Max and Uniglobe – are well established and use South Africa as a springboard into the rest of Africa.
The Franchise Association of South Africa (FASA), which owns and manages the International Franchise Expo, invites government delegations and franchisors to use the Franchise Expo as a means to research the potential of doing business in South Africa and showcase their own business and franchise opportunities at the Expo.
